There are plenty of alternative indie music festivals that offer unique and diverse experiences and we can’t think of a better way to breathe fresh new talent in the indie alternative music scene. However, having to choose from the thousands of indie music festivals this summer can be a bit daunting. Plus, this heat makes everything go slower, this includes our neurons.

This is why we’ve selected the best indie alternative lineups already confirmed for music festivals around the globe. Planning on being in Europe this month? The UK? The US? Doesn’t matter. New talent is scheduled everywhere during July 2023 and you don’t want to be the one to miss out.

Best Indie Alternative Lineups: Europe

Although many have argued that most indie artists and bands originated in the UK and the US during the 1980s, times have changed! For some time, Europe has been home to some of the most famous music festivals, including Primavera Sound (Barcelona, Spain), Glastonbury Festival (Pilton, England), Roskilde Festival (Roskilde, Denmark), Way Out West (Gothenburg, Sweden), etc., just to name a few.

Tsunami (July 21-23, 2023)

This music festival takes place in the north of Spain, Gijón, Asturias. Apart from offering some of the most beautiful landscapes – and cider – this month it will also offer some of the best music at the crossroads between old punk and new rock.

The lineup for July 2023 includes Descendents, Dropkick Murphys, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, and Wolfmother.

Les Nuit Secrètes (July 21-23, 2023)

Les Nuit Secrètes takes place in Aulnoye-Aymeries, a small town in northern France, and it’s not just about music. It is also known as an arts festival that is known for its unique concept and intimate atmosphere. It features a diverse lineup of indie, alternative, and electronic music, as well as various other art forms.

If you’re lucky and get your hands on a festival ticket, you’ll have the chance to see the following artists and bands live: Boris Brejcha, The Blaze, Angèle, Jain, Lomepal, etc.

Low (July 28-30, 2023)

Low is an annual music festival that takes place in Benidorm, Spain. So, if you’re expecting a lively and diverse atmosphere, you’d be on point. Festival-goers can enjoy the festival’s sustainable initiatives, paradisiac beaches, and a mix of genres, such as indie, rock, pop, electronic, etc. Not bad at all.

It’s also known to attract both national and international artists and bands which, this July, will include: Placebo, Interpol, Vetusta Morla, Django Django, and Cupido, just to name a few.

Best Indie Alternative Lineups: UK

I know, it still feels weird to have a separate section, but we’re not getting into it. Here are two fantastic indie alternative music festivals where new and established artists are set to make their indie magic.

Latitude Festival (July 20-23, 2023)

Latitude Festival is a popular annual music and arts festival held in Henham Park, Suffolk, England. It’s not just music that you’ll find; the lineup includes comedy, theatre, and spoken word performances. Although it’s not exclusively an indie music festival, it definitely is a platform for indie bands and artists to share their work. This year, here are some of the amazing artists scheduled to perform: black midi, George Ezra, James, Metronomy, and Men I Trust.

Kendal Calling (July 27-30, 2023)

Kendal Calling is a popular annual music festival held in the Lake District, Cumbria, England. The venue is famous for its scenic location and vibrant atmosphere the genres include indie, rock, pop, electronic, and more. What’s also great is that, it’s not just about music here either; this festival attracts all types of audiences as it’s a family-friendly environment: there are dedicated areas and activities for kids, on-site camping, art installations, comedy acts, and plenty of food!

Best Indie Alternative Lineups: US

When you think of the US, you’ll probably think of huge festivals. And you wouldn’t be completely wrong, especially if you have Coachella in mind. Although also considerable in size, our selection of music festivals for July 2023 is based on the presence of indie and alternative artists.

Pitchfork (July 21-23, 2023)

Although Pitchfork is also known for its considerable size, it’s also known for its genre selection (indie, alternative, and experimental artists) and curated lineup selection. This Chicago-based musical fest is held in Union Park.

Once again, we’re sure you’re going to recognize many of these artists and bands from our very own playlists: Bon Iver, Snail Mail, Weyes Blood, Kelela, The Alchemist, etc.

Capitol Hill Block Party (July 21-23, 2023)
