Maybe you don’t know this, but Indiemono was actually founded by a monkey named Nito (and two humans… but that part’s not as cool). This week, Nito decided he also wants to help choose our editorial picks, and honestly, who were we to say no?

He’s put together a selection of songs for all kinds of moods. We’re calling it “Nito’s Yearly Picks 2025” because he claims he’ll do it every year… but who knows. He might get distracted by a banana next time.

Here’s our first category: Songs that made the road trip legendary

Sally, When The Wine Runs Out

Who can go on a road trip without a little bit of that country feel? We’re here for it.

ROLE MODEL is a singer and songwriter known for his laid-back pop sound and honest lyrics. He writes about everyday feelings in a way that’s easy to relate to, mixing catchy melodies with a relaxed vibe.

 

Wait For Me – Oracle Sisters

This one is for the calmest part of the trip: that moment when your friends have run out of words and finally go quiet. Great!

We Need To Talk – Barny Fletcher

Oh no, shit, someone wants to talk again.

Popstar Of Your Dreams – Kai Bosch

This one feels like a fever dream. It’s like when you’ve been driving for five hours and suddenly get a random burst of energy. Love it!

We all need a break. This one sounds a little psychedelic, though. We’re still in that fever dream of having to drive two more hours, but at least we’re getting closer. Right?

You just need to look at the title of this one and you’ll understand why Nito chose it. He feels represented. He’s having his self-love moment.

Here’s the most profound moment of the trip. The mantra of staring out the window for five hours is making you question your life choices.

Mt. Joy are an American indie folk-rock band formed in Los Angeles and now based in Philadelphia. The group started gaining attention with their early singles, which showcased their blend of warm melodies, expressive vocals, and thoughtful storytelling.

 

Sleep When We’re Dead – Thomas Day

Guess who was sleep-deprived while writing this blog… now it all makes sense. Anyway, this is a banger. 100% recommended.

Thomas Day is a Nashville-based singer and songwriter whose work blends clear vocals with polished pop production. He first built an audience online, where his performances gained quick momentum.

 

2CB – Callinsick

This is one of those songs that makes you want to stay in the car even after you’ve already reached your destination.

Callinsick is an emerging artist who, in his own words, creates “post-Brexit pop.”
