Banana Interview: Jordan Parker, the pop sensation and Indiemono fan

Meet Jordan Parker, the vibrant pop singer and songwriter sensation from LA, California. His secret ingredient? Unforgettable hooks and electrifying performances make him stand out from the crowd with anthemic choruses and soul-stirring ballads.

He’s collaborated with numerous artists in songs including “Is It Enough” featuring Sylow and “Lying” featuring Niki Cremmen, both of which have gained notable recognition. You may want to check out his latest release, “Lay“. To get a better feel of the song, watch the Live Acoustic in Topanga.

Now, let’s see how he did on our Banana Interview!

Jordan Parker, the pop sensation and Indiemono fan

Give us 5 emerging artists that you want to highlight for everyone to discover right now.

What is your current favorite/guilty pleasure/go-to playlist? (no pressure, it doesn’t have to be Indiemono’s)

Honestly, I don’t really listen to any playlist besides Indiemono’s.

You bring a mix of R&B and soul to the pop scene, if you had to name 3 artists that together, describe your sound, would they be? Example: Ella Fitzgerald + Bruno Major + Mitski = Laufey.

I’ll just give you some of my favorite artists. Ray Charles, Drake, Third Eye Blind, Stevie Wonder, Gavin Degraw. I’m sure you’ll hear some of them in my music.

Your father was a front-of-house audio engineer for legends like Luther Vandross and Stevie Wonder. What are the top three lessons you’ve learned from his experience?

The music business is rough, and nothing is guaranteed, stay focused on your vision, and don’t lose it.

There are a lot of talented musicians in this world but who is your favorite and how does he/she inspire you in your career?

Ray Charles. He’s just the best. I wish I could sing like that.
You’ve been exposed to the music industry since you were a kid. Do you believe that there’s a dark side in the music industry? If so, how would you describe it?
The business doesn’t care about you. It cares about money. That is all.
What would be your dream collaboration?
Put Drake, Stephen Jenkins & Pharrell, and I in a room and see what happens.
How is the future looking for your music career?
It’s been slowly starting to pick up. Just have to keep it movin’ and I’m ready for a world tour ASAP.
If you were a type of… [Spotify playlist] what would you be? (feel free to elaborate haha)

Indiemono. Duh 🤷‍♂️

What’s your favorite… [musical guilty pleasure]?

Dashboard Confessional and Guster (thanks to my older sister).

Now, for the Spicy Round!

A story that happened with a fan worth telling.

She came to a random show and was a little nervous, her opening line was “Jordan I’ve known you your whole life.” For some reason, I immediately played it off like we did know each other our whole life and I was trying to figure it out. She had to eventually say “Wait… I’m just a fan”…OHP!

Last one, your choice!

[What was your first job?]

Pumping gas and washing cars at Chevron. In Oregon, you don’t pump your own gas. That’s very Oregon lol.
