Not Over You

Not everyone heals at the same pace. We’ve created this playlist to help you overcome your breakup or maybe to cry a little bit more. This is a collection of indie sad songs that will make you miss your ex., so it’s perfect if you’re not over him/her yet. We are a bit of a masochist. Aren’t we?

1. ARE YOU LETTING GO? Dreamer Boy & BENEE

“With this song, I wanted to express that unfamiliar and bewildering place of love, of not knowing, and the uncertainty of how the other person is feeling.” “This is a song that I really wanted to have BENEE appear on because it shows that there is someone else and she gives the other side of the story in some ways,”

Keep me warm again
I’m better within than without
But I gotta know
Are you letting go?

2. Wish I Was Better- Kina & yaeow

Kina comes back producing this track for yaeow. A mellow acoustic stripped-down ballad that sounds nostalgic and vulnerable in yaeow‘s voice. You will probably feel related to its lyrics.

I been calling you up ’cause I’m missing you
I don’t even know what I’m gonna do
I say I don’t care, that’s not the truth
Yeah, I’m still in love with you

3. Best Thing – JAWNY

Sometimes what you think is the best thing for you, it’s not. In this lighthearted bedroom pop tune, JAWNY talks about dealing with an obsession for an ex-lover. He delivers clever lyrics in an instrumental that sounds reminiscent of the ’90s. Turning the creepy situation into a humorous one.
Girl, you refresh me like ice cold Cola
My heart is requesting for you to come over
I know I’m obsessing about this being over

4. Sober – Childish Gambino

Childish Gambino reflects on the bittersweetness of using drugs/alcohol to cope with our feelings. The production and melody sound soothing and warm, almost neo-psychedelic, but the reality of the lyrics is very different.

And now that’s it’s over, I’ll never be sober
I couldn’t believe, but now I’m so high
And now that’s it’s over, I’ll never be sober
I couldn’t believe, but now I’m so high

5. Valentine – Snail Mail

Snail Mail leads us through grief in “Valentine”, showing is some vulnerable and delicate moments with bursts of rage and impotence. If you’ve ever broken up with someone, you probably know what this song is talking about.
I’d hate to picture someone with you
I lay down and start to cry
You won’t believe what just two months do
I’m older now, believe me, I adore you

6. Feelz – Bay Ledges

Bay Ledges soothes our soul with this song in which he wonders how could he turn off a feeling. There’s no way to do that but at least we can feel better through music.

And I could just turn it off
But you can’t turn off a feeling (feeling, yeah)
Turn it off
But you can’t turn off a feeling

7. Things That I Miss – awfultune & Sandosius

awfultune shows her vulnerability in this acoustic song in which she enumerates all the things that she misses from her lover.

I miss your teeth and your smile
I haven’t seen them in a while
Remember when you stole that
Peace necklace from me at the store?

8. Cream Shirt – Hauskey

We usually tend to think that every moment will last forever but we don’t really know when it’s going to be the last time that we experience something that we take for granted.

I think it might be like this forever
Sitting in the sun on the grass, yeah, yeah
And you’re wearing nothing but that cream shirt
And then it all was gone so fast

9. Quarterback – Wallows

Wallows come back with this bedroom pop anthem about the feelings of anxiety and uncertainty that we feel when we’re towards the end of a relationship. Certanly, one of the most difficult phases we can go through.

Summer’s gone
I’m all alone wishin’ for your call, startin’ to freak
I’m not sure if he’s comin’ over for the night
Quarterback’s fine

10. Everybody Is Gonna Love Somebody – Alfie Templeman

We want to end this list with a little bit of hope. You might feel like it’s the end of the world but you will be okay. We promise.

Everybody’s gonna love somebody
But if it ain’t you then I love nobody
I just wanna go and hold somebody
Everybody’s gonna love somebody

Thank you very much for reading us! Also, If you’re one of the lucky ones who has already been over someone, we suggest you this playlist instead.
